The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle and his counterparts from Parastatals and Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education joined other well-wishers in welcoming the newly appointed Ministers of Education, Professor Tahir Manman oon, (SAN) and Honorable Dr. Yusuf T. Sununu shortly after their swearing-in ceremony as the Minister of Education and Minister of State for Education by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR held on the 21st of August, 2023 at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja. In receiving the Honorable Ministers, the Federal Ministry of Education main auditorium was filled to capacity with the Management and Staff of the ministry alongside other heads and Directors of Parastatals and Agencies under Federal Ministry of Education. The occasion was equally graced with the presence of the friends and families of the new Ministers as well as a huge presence of the Management and staff of Baze University where the minister of Education served as vice Chancellor. The programme began with introduction from individual dignitaries; this was followed with the welcome address by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Andrew Adejo who explained the cordial and hospitable symbiotic relationship existing among members of the education industry in Nigeria. He explained that the ministry was enthusiastic to receive the new Honorable Ministers, who have impeccable records of achievement in diverse field, which is expected to be deployed in managing the affairs of education ministry to an enviable level. He pledged the corporation and loyalty of the entire education sector to the new ministers. He wished them a successful tenure. In his address, the Honorable Minister of State, expressed appreciation to his Excellency President Bola Ahmad Tinubu for seeing them worthy to steer the ship of education industry at this critical moment where there are numerous challenges facing the education sector in Nigerian. He solicited the support and corporation of all and sundry for the success of their tenure in office.

In his remarks, the Education Minister, Professor Tahir Manman, OON, SAN disclosed that his administration will use Key Performance indicator (KPI) as a standard measurement index for performance. He further charged all the principal stakeholders to gear up their efforts in other to achieve superlative records during their assignment. The minister further underscored the need for a collective responsibility of all stakeholders in assisting Mr. President to achieve the renewed hope agenda for the country’s educational sector. He however disclosed that welfarism will be one of his guiding principles meaning that, he will accord staff welfare priority during his reign as the Honorable Minster of education.
