The Executive Secretary NCCE, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle being satisfied with the implementation of shared responsibility, has lauded the efforts of the Commission’s statutory Committee on Freedom of Information (FOI) .
Speaking during the presentation of FOI 2022 Annual report held on the 7th of March, 2023 in his office, the Executive Secretary challenged the committee to double its efforts towards improving NCCE/ Colleges of Education compliance level with FOIA, 2011 He reiterated his commitment to support the committee and other subcommittee in the commission with all that is required to function in accordance with the law.
In his speech, NCCE FOI Committee Chairman, Mr. Ameh Isaac Oche, expressed the committee’s appreciation to the Executive Secretary for giving it free hand to operate, in addition to the necessary support provided. Ameh said “Sir, this is unprecedented”. He however assured the Executive Secretary that the committee will do all within its power to improve from the current FOI MDAs performance ranking where the commission is ranked 7th out of the 250 MDAs considered for 2022.
Recalled that NCCE statutory Committee on Freedom of Information was inaugurated by the Executive Secretary on 24th February,2022 and held its maiden sensitization workshop for NCCE/ FCE FOI Desk officers in February, 2nd and 3rd 2023 in Nasarawa State, with overwhelming participation of over fifteen Desk officers from Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria. The Director, of Human Resource Department of NCCE, Dauda Yabani, who was present at the occasion, also applauded the NCCE FOI Committee for the recent concluded sensitization workshop. He charged the committee to sustain their pro-activeness that brought pride to Commission during the performance ranking of 2022.
Highlight of the occasion is the presentation of the Annual Report to the Executive Secretary, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle by the NCCE FOI Committee chairman, Ameh Isaac Oche, Deputy Director, Information in the presence of committee members.
