EEMI PARTNERS WITH NCCE TO CURB CULTISM IN NIGERIA EDUCATION SECTOR

A non- governmental organization, Exam Ethics Marshals International (EEMI), has said its partnership with the National Commission for Colleges of Education NCCE, in addressing the rising cases of cultism in Nigeria, has recorded some outstanding and impactful achievements. This was revealed when a delegation of EEMI paid the Executive Secretary NCCE, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle a courtesy visit on the 13th of January, 2022 in Abuja. The founding Chairman, EEMI, Ike Onyechere, MFR in a statement said the essence of the visit is to convey the appreciation of education and security leaders and other delegates for the inspiring goodwill message delivered by Executive Secretary, NCCE, Prof. Okwelle at the 7th Safe School Consultative Conference held in Abuja in November, 2021. Secondly, to provide the E.S with a brief profile of EEMI and overview of some of its interventions. Also to formerly congratulate the E.S on his well-deserved appointment as the Executive Secretary, NCCE, and to appeal for continued partnership with NCCE. Ike said “the National Commission for Colleges of Education pre-eminently stands out in partnering with EEMI in launching and implementing key projects over the years” he added that one very important project being implemented in partnership with NCCE is the Campus Sense Project (CSP) aimed at forestalling the spread of cultism in primary and secondary schools. Explaining the importance of partnering with NCCE, Ike said, unless and until anti cult early warning and intervention initiatives is rooted and mainstreamed in teacher education systems other efforts will yield little results because, teachers are the fundamental safety, security and integrity source codes of education. In explaining the biography, Mr. Ike, earlier said, EEMI is an international movement of trained and certified volunteer ethics friendly education stakeholders who pledged and are committed to code of ethical self-regulation in their duty posts and founded in Nigeria on 27th May, 1996 with operational footprints in other countries. Responding, the Executive Secretary NCCE, Professor Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle, appreciated EMMI for the visit, describing it as timely and effective to teacher development in Nigeria. He commended the credible work EMMI is doing and assured them of NCCE continuous partnership towards quality preparation of teachers in Nigeria. He thanked them for the visit and appreciated them for wishing his administration a fruitful tenure.
